Particle Size
When to choose this option: You need particle size distribution of inorganic particles in a powder or suspension – for quality control of raw materials, product formulation or geological/mineralogical applications.
Particle size distribution is measured by x-ray sedimentation – measuring the settling velocity of particles through a liquid of known properties (Stokes’ law), together with direct mass measurement by X-ray absorption. This is a direct, absolute method – with no need for an optical particle model as with laser diffraction. In the Micromeritics lineup, this is currently the only instrument we offer in this category.
