A universal powder flow tester – dynamic, shear and bulk measurement of powder behavior, with fully automated test programs and data analysis

  • Four categories of methodologies: Bulk (density, compressibility, permeability), Dynamic flow (basic flowability, aeration, consolidation, flow rate, specific energy), Shear (shear cell, wall friction – per ASTM D7891) and Process (segregation, attrition, caking, electrostatics, moisture, agglomeration)
  • Patented dynamic methodology – a precision blade rotates and simultaneously moves through the powder; the torque and force are measured, and their composite (Flow Energy) represents the total resistance to flow
  • Automatic conditioning step before each measurement – consistent sample preparation regardless of prior stress history, for high repeatability independent of operator and instrument
  • Sample size range 10 – 160 mL (a 1 mL shear cell is additionally available for very small samples)

  • Additional accessories: Aeration Control Unit (controlled aeration/permeability), Shear Cell and Wall Friction modules (ASTM D7891), vented piston for axial consolidation under controlled stress, a range of vessel and blade sizes
  • Software compliant with CFR21 Part 11 guidelines – wizard interface for easy guidance through the analysis, site license enables processing and reporting outside the laboratory as well
  • Typical applications: batteries (lithium-ion), additive manufacturing (3D printing), coatings, chemical industry, toners, cosmetics, ceramics, food, pharmaceuticals
  • Compliant with ASTM D7891
