DMA

Dynamic Mechanical Analysis

When to choose this option: You need the viscoelastic properties of materials — glass transition under load, stiffness/modulus as a function of frequency (polymers, composites, adhesives).

The NEXTA DMA200 is an extended force-range dynamic mechanical analyzer designed to measure the viscoelastic properties of materials — glass transition under load, stiffness (modulus), and the effect of frequency on mechanical properties. A force range up to 20 N enables characterization of very stiff materials (e.g. carbon-fiber-reinforced composites) with a larger sample cross-section than conventional instruments, while a force resolution of 5×10⁻⁶ N ensures detection of even the smallest transitions in softer samples. The optional Real View® system allows live recording of the sample during measurement.

Key applications

  • Polymers, elastomers, composites (e.g. carbon-fiber-reinforced), adhesives, coatings, biomaterials
  • Determination of glass transition (Tg) under mechanical load and of modulus (E’, E”) as a function of frequency and temperature
  • Materials research and development — applied science and product development for engineers
  • Measurement reliability verification (Lissajous monitor) and quick detection of unexpected modulus changes
