BET Specific Surface Area

When to choose this option: You need to measure the specific surface area of a powder or porous material (catalysts, pharmaceutical powders, cement, batteries).

The BET (Brunauer-Emmett-Teller) method determines the specific surface area of a material based on the physical adsorption of a gas (most often nitrogen) onto the sample surface at liquid nitrogen temperature. The same type of measurement (gas physisorption) most often also provides mesopore/micropore size distribution and pore volume.
